West Chicago, Illinois: February 26, 2010 – Big hearts and bald heads will be rallying for a worthy cause at the St. Baldrick’s event in West Chicago on Sunday, March 21, 2010 at Hawthorne’s Backyard, 1200 W. Hawthorne Lane in West Chicago from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. Hosted by the West Chicago Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 85, over a dozen officers have teamed up to raise funds for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, an organization dedicated to childhood cancer research, by shaving their heads.

“We got involved with the St. Baldrick’s event last year when the Kane County Sheriff’s Department invited us to participate. We were so inspired that a group of us decided to create and host our own event at Hawthorne’s Backyard,” explained West Chicago Officer Waylon Potts. “All of us involved believe strongly in supporting children who are fighting cancer and in children’s cancer research,” he added.

Among those participating are Officers Marty Griffin, Waylon Potts, Dan Herbert, Rob Winton, Gus Hernandez, Rick Sauseda, Robbi Peterson, Tony Reyes, Rob Kowalik, Jeff Moos, John Zurick, Mike Rosenwinkel, Deputy Chief Laz Perez and Sergeant Bill Hall. Additionally the West Chicago Fire Protection District has put together a team and will part of this event.
